  • Insufficient or lack of oil in the shaft coupling of lifting parts, or improper use of grease, causes calcification of the grease, resulting in the inability to lubricate between the tooth surfaces, or poor lubrication, causing serious tooth surface wear.

  • The horizontal and coaxial errors of the two shafts are too large to within the range that the coupling can compensate, which makes the shaft teeth and the internal teeth mesh inaccurately, resulting in partial contact and additional torque.

 

How to identify the shaft coupling before installing?

Before installation, first check whether the prime mover and the working machine are concentric, whether there are wrapping paper and bumps on the surfaces of the two shafts, whether there are debris in the inner holes of the two half couplings of the shaft coupling, and whether there are bumps on the edges of the inner holes. If necessary, clean up the shaft coupling and half shaft couplings, and treat the bruises with a fine file.

Then check whether the inner hole diameter and length of the two half couplings are consistent with the diameter and shaft elongation of the prime mover and working machine. In general selection, it is better to make the length of the prime mover and the working machine end half-coupling less than its shaft elongation 10 to 30mm.

In order to facilitate the installation, it is best to put the two half shaft couplings in the 120 to 150 incubator or oil tank for preheating, so that the inner hole size increases and it is easy to install. After installation, the shaft head should not protrude from the end face of the half shaft coupling, it is better to be flush. Detect the distance between the two halves of the coupling: take the average of the readings of 3 to 4 points measured along the two inner sides of the flange of the half shaft coupling, and the sum of the measured dimensions of the extension and the two diaphragm sets, the difference between the average and the sum is controlled within the range of 0 to 0.4mm.

 

How to deal with shaft coupling failures?

Replace with new grease and inject qualified grease regularly to prevent oil leakage and sufficient oil.

Re-align, or re-align the gear reducer side, or re-align the reel side. First find out the part with large offset error, measure which side of the shaft coupling is offset, that is, measure the levelness of the main shaft coupling, and re-calibrate according to the quality.

In addition, the horizontality and concentricity of the two shafts have large errors, which causes the shaft coupling to be awkward when rolling.
