This coupling has two main structural forms:
①By the hinged bolt to achieve the two-axis alignmen , by bolt rod under compression and shear transmitte the torque.
② Align the flange on one coupling half with the groove on the other coupling half.The bolts connecting the two coupling halves can use ordinary bolts,such as class A and B, and its torque is transmitted by the friction torque of two coupling halves joint surface.
The material of the flange coupling can be gray cast iron or carbon steel. Cast steel or forged steel should be used under heavy load or when the peripheral speed is greater than 30 m / s.
According to the magnitude of the transmitted torque.the bolts on the flanges can all use hinged bolts, or half of them with hinged bolts, and the other half with ordinary bolts .
Flange couplings have high requirements on the neutrality of the two shafts. When there is relative displacement between the two shafts, it will cause additional loads and deteriorate the working conditions. This is its main disadvantage.
